Mantock’s Guide reimagining education at the primary level
THE beginning of the school year usually signals the proverbial pulling up of the socks for students islandwide, with a special focus on grade six students who are in preparation mode for the annual Primary Exit Profile (PEP) exams. Online learning leader Intelex Systems credits the success they have had with students at the primary level to their online learning programme, Mantock’s Guide (www.mantocksguide.com).
In their first year (2021) of launching Mantock’s Guide, the top girl in the island was a product of the superior preparation received at Mantock’s Guide. In 2022 the success continued with the majority of students who were enrolled in the programme being placed at their school of choice, with several students receiving government scholarships.
“The secret to Mantock’s Guide is that the interactive platform allows Jamaican children to think critically while enjoying the learning process. This virtual space is equipped with experienced educators and is accentuated by an interface that was specifically designed to allow students to have a very active role in the learning process, which empowers them to achieve their goals,” said Eulie Mantock, lead educator after which the programme was named.
An intellectual powerhouse, published author of MacMillan textbooks, and arguably one of the best primary level educators, Mantock has seen Jamaica’s transition from Common Entrance to Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) and now to PEP, consistently producing great results in pre-high school exams including numerous top boy and top girl awards. With the disruption in the education system caused by the pandemic, she quickly pivoted to an online programme, giving rise to Mantock’s Guide, creating a balanced fusion of academics, play, and mind empowerment.
At the heart of her craft, Mantock is concerned with improving life inside and outside the academic sphere and is driven by her passion for teaching and works assiduously to perfect her talent to deliver content to students.
“Our team has found that by providing high-quality learning resources in a user-friendly, interactive environment, students can improve their performances through online learning and get the same results which Mrs Mantock achieved with her in-person classes. Through our live classes, interactive lessons, and practice tests, we provide learning resources to assist students and parents to achieve better learning outcomes,” said Clava Mantock, CEO of Intelex Systems which owns and operates the Mantock’s Guide programme.
Intelex Systems, through its Mantock’s Guide programme, continues to reimagine the future of education by being cognisant of the varying ways in which children learn, tailoring their content delivery with the use of technology, and meeting students at their academic capabilities for the best results.
Clava Mantock, CEO, is excited about the future for Intelex Systems as the team is currently working on a significant upgrade to the platform that powers mantocksguide.com. The new platform will provide even more interactivity for students, enhance the use of gamification techniques to engage students in different ways, and introduce artificial intelligence-based learning assistants to create personal learning experiences for each student. This, he believes, will further transform education across Jamaica and not only at the primary level. Intelex Systems hopes to offer secondary school-level programmes in the very near future, which has been a constant request from past parents and students of its primary school programme.
