Large turnout for Footloose
The torrential rains that fell last Saturday afternoon didn’t prevent patrons from coming out in their hundreds for another successful staging of the retro party series Footloose.
Promoted by Broadway Productions and held at the Mas Camp in St Andrew, Footloose saw a full house dancing the night away and reliving the hits of yesteryear.
DJ Alpachino, DJ Arif Cooper, and ZJ Liquid were tasked to get the crowd on a musical high, and they did just that.
Whipping the crowd into a frenzy taking them through various genres including soca, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, and R&B, the DJs did not disappoint.
A patron, who identified herself as Sharon from Portmore, was observed totally immersed in the song Like a Virgin by Madonna.
“Not even the rain coulda stop me from coming. Footloose a my party,” she disclosed.
“This staging of Footloose was our first time back at Mas Camp since the COVID lockdowns and it surely was more than we expected. The patrons came out and they partied all night. It was non-stop dancing,” said co-promoter Tyrone Dixon.
Asked if he was worried that the rain would have affected the turnout, Dixon said: “Footloose is synonymous with rain. We can almost always expect some showers on the night of Footloose. It’s our blessing.”
With the event now in its 17th year, Dixon shared what keeps patrons coming back.
“From the set-up to the DJs, the presentation, and vibe, the patrons are who make our event second to none,” he said.
He continued, “I want to thank the Almighty for paving the way for success, our main sponsor Campari and other sponsors who continue to support us and, most importantly, our patrons.”
