Shab Don’s bail request postponed
THE bail application for dancehall producer Linval “Shab Don” Thompson Jr was postponed until September 26 when he appeared in the St James Parish Court on August 22.
The producer is facing three counts of murder.
“[The next hearing is] set for September 26 for case file to be completed. [The] bail application was deferred until then,” Donahue Martin, attorney-at-law representing the accused, told the Jamaica Observer.
Thompson Jr is also being represented by Tom Tavares-Finson QC.
Attorney-at-law for the producer’s co-accused, Tajay Clarke, is Nadine Coleman. She was, however, absent at the last hearing and Gordon Evans held her place.
Thompson Jr, who is implicated in a triple murder in Rose Heights, St James, was remanded in custody when he made his first appearance on June 22.
He is charged for the shooting deaths of 27-year-old Chadwell Frazer, otherwise called Bomb Brain or Chad; 24-year-old Chamario “Chippy” Calvin; and 26-year-old Toniann “Too Fly” Reid.
The men were shot dead at a birthday party on Marl Road in Rose Heights on May 25.
Thompson Jr was arrested by police in June during a targeted operation in the St Catherine South Police Division following preliminary investigations into several incidents.
He was, in April of this year, freed of gun charges after being arrested in October 2021.
Thompson Jr has made a name for himself in the music industry and is the owner of Shab Don Records. His production credits include Vybz Kartel’s Any Weather, Squash’s Money Fever, Shub Out by Teejay, and Money We Love by Chronic Law, Squash, and Vybz Kartel.
