Teams vie for semis in Kingston Wharves U-15 cricket
THE 2022 Kingston Wharves Under-15 cricket competition is set to resume with quarter-final action today as teams battle for places to the semis.
At Manley Horne Park, the hosts St Elizabeth CA are to face St Catherine CA; St Catherine CC square off with Kensington CC at Chedwin Park; Kingston CC take on Boys’ Town at Sabina Park; and St Mary CA welcome Westmoreland CA to Boscobel.
The fifth and final preliminary round of matches in the 31st staging of the competition was played across the island between Monday and Tuesday, with the eight teams earning their spots in the quarter-finals.
Manchester, who won the competition when it was previously held in 2019, needed to defeat St Catherine CA to stay in the hunt for the championship but it was not to be as they were skittled out for 54 runs. St Catherine CA replied with 56 for six to win by four wickets.
St Catherine CC ended the preliminary round as the only team not to lose any points along the way. In their final preliminary round match against Kingston & St Andrew Cricket Association (KSACA) they romped home with the 83-run win. KSACA had made only 49 runs in reply to St Catherine CC’s 132 all out.
