44 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 44 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Monday, August 22, bringing the infection total to 148,966.
The new cases comprise 27 females and 17 males, with ages ranging from 1 year to 92 years.
The cases were recorded in St James (17), Kingston and St Andrew (14), Westmoreland (four), Trelawny(four), St Catherine (two), Clarendon (two) and Manchester(one).
Two deaths were recorded for the period.
These include a 62-year-old male from St Mary and a 78-year-old female from St Mary.
There were 108 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 95,883.
Currently, 118 people are hospitalised, 21 of whom are moderately ill, six severely ill and one in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 16.5 per cent.
