There’s no dispute! Jamaican culture remains an influence on the world: Specifically, dancehall, the music genre that acts as a glue in the creative industry.
Dubai-based Jamaican fashion designer, Miss Jamaica International 2010 and reality TV star Lesa Milan Hall hosted a dancehall-themed party, aired on the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Dubai on Bravo last Wednesday. The soirée took place at Miss Lily’s Dubai, a Jamaican restaurant which made history as the first Caribbean eatery in the Jewel of Arabia.
Naturally, the fierce mesdames didn’t hesitate to turn out haute-fab dancehall-influenced ensembles. Much like Cardi-B’s Jamaican-inspired birthday party in Los Angeles last October, Hall went for full “yardie vibe”. On her Instagram page, Milan-Hall shared, “I can’t wait for you guys to see this episode because it pays tribute to my Caribbean culture and to dancehall music.”
Meanwhile, American actress, singer, and television personality Keke Palmer delivered a Rock-inspired look for British Vogue‘s July 2022 issue, courtesy of Jamaican fashion designer Edvin Thompson. Palmer donned the SS22 Look 17, a black, green, red and gold halter minidress from Thompson’s New York-based contemporary clothing brand, Theophilio.
