As Koffee sings in Toast: “Gratitude is a must.” And gratitude was on grand display on Friday, July 29, at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, where the Ministry of Health and Wellness hosted a recognition banquet for its COVID-19 partners and donors.
Attendants represented overseas governments, local ministries and agencies, and private sector organisations. They all extraordinarily supported the nation’s fight against the novel coronavirus.
Guest speaker Pan American Health Organization Director Dr Carissa Etienne highlighted the pandemic’s profound impact on Latin America and the Caribbean.
Seventy-four million people in the aforementioned region lost their primary income sources during the pandemic’s first year. According to Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton, the support of partners has not been “just in the interest of Jamaicans, but in the interest of humanity”.
