Sting promises 2022 return
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Greatest One Night Show on Earth, Sting, is expected to make its long-awaited return to the live entertainment scene this December.
According to a release, the show’s management, alongside Supreme Promotions Limited, has already booked some 15 artistes to perform on the Boxing Day showcase which is slated to be held at the Grizzly’s Entertainment Center in St Ann.
Highlighting that for more than three decades Sting has provided “cutting-edge” entertainment that has gone down in musical history, organisers of the event say Sting 2022 will seek to build on its rich entertainment legacy.
“Sting is the ultimate colosseum, where lyrical masters unleash their lyrical projectiles with the intention of emerging the ultimate victor. It holds the platinum microphone categorisation as the seminal and only true stage for the grooming of young, not-so-young, and popular dancehall artistes in the art of stagecraft and lyrical mastery,” the release read.
This is not the first time that event organisers have signalled a return of the dancehall event. In 2018, event conceptualiser Isaiah Laing said the show was poised to make a huge comeback after a then two-year break.
Then in January 2020, Laing again heralded a Sting return. Those plans fizzled out, however, as the COVID-19 pandemic took over.

Hoping that this will be the year the show finally makes its comeback, Sting organisers expressed that as the internet makes it increasingly less difficult for artistes to get their big break in music, live shows like Sting become even more critical.
“As dancehall’s cycle of production moves away from the stage and onto the internet, Sting’s role as the testing ground of stagecraft mastery becomes even more critical. In this regard, the resounding and now deafening clarion calls for a true stage upon which to hone and test the lyrical mettle and audience mastery of the new wave of dancehall young guns,” the release read.
According to the organisers, as it has done for its over three decades of existence, Sting 2022 on December 26 will provide the fertile ground on which to test the depth and breadth of dancehall’s top-ranked, newly emerged, and emerging stars.
No details were released regarding the acts already billed, nor was there any information on who the major sponsors are for the show’s grand return.
