Beloved baker killed in bus crash while on vacation in Jamaica
A beloved baker and owner of a popular US-based restaurant was killed in a bus crash while on vacation in Jamaica earlier this month.
The owner of My Just Desserts in Alton, Illinois, Yvonne Campbell was on vacation in Hanover with her twin sister Evelyn Campbell, her daughter, nieces, and their friends, when tragedy struck.
On Saturday, July 9, the tourists were on their way back to their hotel when their tour bus collided head-on with a truck on the Orange Bay main road, injuring the entire group of family and friends.

According to KTVI Fox 2, Yvonne sustained multiple injuries including bleeding from the brain. She was at a hospital in Montego Bay for several days, fighting for her life, until she passed away on Wednesday, July 13.
Her twin sister Evelyn told the media that “she needed a craniotomy or bur hole to relieve the pressure, but none of that was done”.
“So she just laid there, waiting there finally to approve an air vac to get her to St Louis, but that never happened. She didn’t make it.
“She was my best friend, my DNA, we shared the womb together, and no one was closer to me than her,” Evelyn Campbell said.
Yvonne was a celebrated resident and native of Alton, Illinois who was an employee of her famous restaurant before acquiring it from her former employer, Ann Badasch, four years ago.
According to The Telegraph, Yvonne worked at the eatery from age 15 to 21, when she went to college to earn her culinary degrees. After graduating, she returned to the restaurant and eventually became the chief pie maker before acquiring the business from Basasch.
A funeral service for Yvonne will be held on Friday, August 5 in Florissant, Illinois.
