Beryllium stands by glory-chasing Sunshine Girls
BERYLLIUM Limited, the island’s leading outsourcing company for high-risk technology and finance processes, has come on board as lead sponsor of Jamaica’s national netball team, the Sunshine Girls.
The two-year deal was signed at the offices of the Guardsman Group on Wednesday with a symbolic cheque handover of $5 million.
The Sunshine Girls are currently ranked fourth in the world, and have begun their journey to the 2023 Netball World Cup games in Cape Town, South Africa.
Speaking at the event, Tania Hall, vice-president of client relations at Beryllium, said that aligning with Netball Jamaica was a no-brainer for the company.
“At BE we are all about performance and so are our Sunshine Girls. This newly minted relationship is one that we are particularly proud of as the hard work and dedication to purpose of each team member, coach and administrator is evidenced by the passion with which they execute their craft and keep our flag flying high on the world stage. The Beryllium team is excited to partner with our national netballers on this next leg of their journey, and we encourage corporate Jamaica to throw their support behind our Girls in any way they can.”
President of Netball Jamaica, Tricia Robinson welcomed the partnership as she expressed hope that this would be the beginning of a long-standing partnership between Beryllium and the national team. “We are excited and grateful for Beryllium’s support. Partnership is everything, and with the help of entities like Beryllium our Girls can focus on the mission at hand — which is to represent Jamaica well and bring home the Netball World Cup,” she said.
The Sunshine Girls are in Birmingham, England, to compete in the Commonwealth Games as they prepare for their journey to Cape Town, South Africa in 2023. Following Birmingham the team will participate in Tour New Zealand from September 17 to 21, 2022. Jamaica will play host for the Americas Qualifiers tournament beginning on October 15, when eight regional teams will vie for two coveted spots on the Netball World Cup roster. The Sunshine Girls’ fourth-place ranking automatically qualifies the team for the Netball World Cup, slated for July 18 to August 6, 2023. This November the Girls will play in the Fast Five tournament.
“Entering their last campaign for the World Cup, the Sunshine Girls were ranked second in the world. With our support and the commitment of other local partners we have no doubt that they will have the resources required to propel them to the top,” Hall added.
