#WorldChamps: Jamaica’s Anderson shatters national record in 100m hurdles
EUGENE, Oregon- National 100 metres hurdles champion, Britany Anderson, blazed to a new national record to punch her ticket to the final of the event at the Oregon World Championships.
Anderson crossed the line in a time of 12.31 seconds to set a personal best and Jamaican record in the event. She was followed by Tokyo Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, who ran a season’s best time of 12.32 seconds.
Meanwhile, Danielle Williams, who lined up against a stellar field in semi-final one, crossed the line in the third position in a season’s best time of 12.41 seconds. She advanced as a result of a non-automatic qualification. Her race was won by Tobi Amusan of Nigeria, who stormed to a new world record of 12.12 metres.
However, Megan Tapper, who claimed the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics last year, missed out on the final of the event after finishing third in semi-final two in a lifetime best of 12.52 seconds.
Anderson and Williams will grace the track for the final of the women’s 100 metres hurdles at 9:00 pm Jamaica time.
