Jamaica Observer hosting World Champs watch party on Thursday
The Jamaica Observer is hosting a World Athletics Championships watch party on Thursday at Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records in St Andrew as Jamaica’s female sprint trio take aim at a second medal sweep in Eugene.
The watch party will start at 8:00pm and attendees are being asked to come decked out in Jamaican colours to cheer on the nation’s athletes.
World leader Shericka Jackson led all qualifiers into Thursday’s mouth-watering 200m finals with an easy looking 21.67 seconds. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who is seeking her second sprint double, was next best with a season’s best 21.82 seconds, while Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah also advanced with a season’s best 21.97 seconds.
It promises to be a cracking finals, with the likes of American duo Abby Steiner and Tamara Clark, and Britain’s defending champion Dina Asher-Smith rounding out a strong field of athletes.
Persons interested in attending the watch party are being asked to RSVP to armstrongk@jamaicaobserver.com or call (876) 936 – 9380.
