Thrilled by the idea of solving complex problems, Adrian Gordon is proud to serve his clients and community by providing automation services as the chief executive officer and software consultant of his namesake brand AdrianGordon.me Limited.
The young tech entrepreneur’s passion for ever-evolving technologies challenges him to rethink his approach while testing the limits of what is already familiar to him. He recounts that during his tenure at Ardenne High School he wrote a basic mathematics programme for an IT platform and the project became his foray into the world of programming. He continued on this path completing the computer science programme at the University of Technology, Jamaica, where he would religiously and relentlessly gain more practice in writing codes, even if unrelated to the coursework.
Gordon translated his practice into the working world while engaged at a local printery as an intern. He then pivoted to assume a developer role at premier marketing agencies in Jamaica. Those experiences gave him a deeper appreciation of how to translate the knowledge into practical applications. He also worked as a freelance developer, servicing clients through platforms such as Upwork (Elance-oDesk) and Guru.com, which broadened his scope.
For Gordon, every new experience presented a learning curve, which has been key to his accumulated depth of knowledge. With his considerable experience Gordon decided it was time to launch his business, AdrianGordon.me Limited, at which he could make a more significant impact.
He regards fairness and transparency as critical in engagements with his clients and is proud that he has remained true to his core values since he ventured into entrepreneurship. He refuses to take on any client he does not genuinely believe will tangibly benefit from his services. Gordon further outlined that driving client value is crucial to fostering positive relationships and is at the core of how his business operates.
He is proud of the strides Jamaica is making to transform into a digitally capable society and notes that, for the tech space, he is impressed with the community-oriented approach undertaken by entities such as the Jamaica Technology and Digital Alliance (JTDA) and the recently relaunched Kingston Beta to address the issues and reveal the trends that are shaping the industry and Jamaica.
Gordon also pointed out that initiatives such as the roll-out of JAM-DEX, Jamaica’s central bank digital currency, signal tremendous growth for Jamaica and its digital adoption. He is confident that these initiatives and interactions are the way forward for Jamaica to compete globally.
Ultimately, Gordon measures his impact by the positive business outcomes he and his team achieve for their clients, noting that he aims for his company to be the best.
