WATCH: Scotland shies from question on secretary-general contest
KIGALI, Rwanda — Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland seemed prepared to speak with members of the Jamaican media as she made a quick visit to the closing section of the Commonwealth Youth Forum at the Intare Conference Arena in Kigali, Rwanda this afternoon.
But the chat was abruptly terminated as TVJ’s Janella Precius sought a comment on the looming race to lead the Commonwealth Secretariat.
With a smile still plastered across her face, Scotland quickly got into a waiting elevator as Precius asked for a comment on the Secretariat race.
Scotland is expected to be challenged by Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kamina Johnson Smith and Tuvalu’s former Governor General Sir Iakoba Taeia Italeli for the Commonwealth’s top job.
