Herbert Morrison seek third-straight win
HOLLAND, Trelawny — Herbert Morrison Technical will be seeking a third-straight win and second in three days over Holland High when they meet this afternoon in an ISSA/Western Conference Under-15 boys’ basketball second-round game at Holland High school, starting at 2:00 pm.
On Wednesday, Herbert Morrison beat Holland High 27-19 in their rescheduled first-round game played at Herbert Morrison in Montego Bay while leaders Cornwall College had their perfect win record snapped, losing 14-17 in a low-scoring game against York Castle.
Cornwall College lead with seven points from four games played, two more than Herbert Morrison Technical on five from three games; York Castle also have five points from four games while Holland High are on four points from three games.
On Wednesday, Herbert Morrison held off a late charging Holland High to win by eight points as Kamau Dennis had a double-double 10 points and 12 rebounds and Joshua Ferguson also scored 10 points.
Herbert Morrison led 12-3 after the first quarter and were up 20-5 at half-time before the hosts rallied in the second half to outscore them 14-7 with three players Horrain Webster, Zaheer Lynch and Renaldo HoSang all scoring six points each.
At York Castle, the teams were tied at 14-ll going into the fourth quarter where the hosts out scored Cornwall College 3-0 to get their first win of the season.
York Castle led by one point 5-4 after the first quarter and held that margin 8-7 at half-time before Cornwall levelled the scores in the third quarter.
York Castle’s Christian Andor led all scorers with nine points, Tahdiel Salmon scored three points and Daniel Barnett and Jamari Green got two each.
Tyreek Mowatt scored six points to lead Cornwall College and had five rebounds, four steals and four blocked shots, Demar Lattibaudiere scored four points and had eight rebounds and eight steals while Janathan Daye scored two points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
