Ten of 13 people held in West Kingston gun find released
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Ten of 13 people who were detained by police following the seizure of two illegal firearms in Denham Town, West Kingston, on Saturday, have been released.
The police say three men remain in custody for more questioning and possible charges.
The 13, which included 11 men and two women, were held after the guns, a Glock 9mm and a Taurus .45, were found during an operation in the community.
The police had reported that the joint police/military operation was carried out between the hours of 5:00 am and 10:00 am along Bentley Lane.
During the operation, 14 premises, which included 40 dwellings, were searched. The firearms were recovered in an abandoned building at 9 Bentley Lane.
The Glock pistol was found with a magazine containing nine rounds of ammunition and the Taurus pistol had six rounds, the police said.
