Leaders Cornwall College hunt fourth-straight win
BROWNS TOWN, St Ann — Leaders Cornwall College will be going after their fourth-straight win this afternoon when they take on York Castle High in a return-round ISSA/Western Conference Under-15 boys’ basketball competition in Brown’s Town.
Cornwall College had won their first-round game played in Montego Bay 58-10 and should be able to get the better of York Castle who have lost all three games so far, including Monday’s first-round contest against Herbert Morrison 52-21.
Also today, Herbert Morrison will hope to win back-to-back games — after losing the opening one — when they host Holland High in a rescheduled first-round game in Montego Bay.
The game was rained out two weeks ago and was rescheduled before the start of the return round.
On Monday, Joshua Ferguson scored a season-high 25 points to lead Herbert Morrison to their first win, beating York Castle by 31 points while restricting the hosts to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.
Herbert Morrison led 16-8 after the first quarter and were up by 10 points 25-15 at half-time before a 12-0 third quarter all but decided the results.
Ferguson also had eight steals as Kamau Dennis had a double-double 18 points and 24 rebounds while Gabriele Scalmana and Jeremiah Rankine both scored three points each.
Christian Andor scored 13 points and had nine rebounds, the first York Castle player to score in double digits in the competition, while Antwan Hardie scored four points, had six steals and five rebounds.
