Stack like a pro w/Milan More
Spoiler alert: Arm parties are back, and everyone is invited!
In a step away from the minimal jewellery movement, fashion is flirting with maximalism.
Arm parties, aka bracelet stacking, had a major moment in 2010 or thereabout when piling on beaded options, doubling up on chunky bangles, and adding in a few Sillybandz (remember those?) were all the rage. Now, a decade (and some) later, wearing multiple bracelets is again on trend, only this time around, the look is a lot more polished.
To help us get into the trend, Tuesday Style Fashion (TSF) has snagged Milan More Jewelry & Accessories boss babe Sheneil Grey for a lesson in Application 101. Grey has mastered the art of stacking, creating viral how-to reels for TikTok and Instagram while driving traffic to her business page @milanmore_accessories.
So whether you’re drawn to dainty gold bangles or Hermès’ Clic H bracelets, Grey says this season more is very definitely more. She maintains that it’s not just about the pieces themselves, but more about the quantity.
So, how is Grey doing the whole arm party trend in 2022? She has a few tips to get you on board.
Double or Triple It Up
If you’ve never been much of a bracelet wearer, you might want to start slow. Grey suggests leaning into the trend by teaming two or three bracelets together on your non-watch-wearing hand.
Silver Lining
If you’re going for a classic look, an all-metal bracelet stack is a sure bet. And when done right an all-silver stack can make the simplest attire look put-together and chic.
Gold Streak
You probably already own a few great pieces for this look, but adding some new arm candy doesn’t sound too bad either. When stacking all-gold bracelets, Grey likes to see a combination of sizes and textures for a personalised look.
Mix & Match
Fashion lovers have been mixing metals for years, and you shouldn’t be afraid to do the same when it comes to your stack.
Add colour
Adding coloured bracelets is a super-easy way to update your stack, and mixing shades usually comes across as eclectic, playful, and personal!
Remember: More Is More
Is there a limit to how many bracelets you can wear at once? Nope! In fact, whereas in the past, the focus may have been on just one arm, now, both can get in on the action. There’s really no-hard-and-fast rules to styling your bracelets. The more you pile on, the more fun your stack will be.
#MilanMoreTip: For chunky pieces, stacks of three to five look best. For thinner pieces, stack as many as you’d like! A good rule of thumb is not to cover more than a third of your forearm. And if you struggle with bracelets not staying in place, Grey recommends placing your watch at the base of your wrist, to help keep wider bracelets or bangles in place behind them.
