Skincare w/ #NewMum Natasha Lee-Duhaney
Back in January, as fashion and beauty blogger Natasha Lee-Duhaney’s due date was fast approaching, the Miami-based mum-to-be gave her Instagram followers a glimpse at what she dubs her Sunday self-care routine. Lee-Duhaney has been incredibly open with followers about her pregnancy, sharing a maternity-style diary and ever-changing beauty regimen on her social media platforms. In one Instagram post, she revealed how she keeps stretch marks at bay.
As we continue a month-long celebration of mums, Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) shares the products Lee-Duhaney — who welcomed a baby girl on April 14 — used to give her baby bump some much-needed TLC, plus an exclusive look at her new mommy-friendly beauty routine.
FACE
Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD): How, if at all, did your skincare routine change during pregnancy?
Natasha Lee-Duhaney (NLD): Typically, I have an eight-step routine where I’m using products with retinoids, AHAs and BHAs — all ingredients on the ‘no-no’ list for pregnant women. So instead I opted for a simplified routine, using products with gentle and safe ingredients for my developing baby.
Some of my fave products used throughout my pregnancy were: Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Cleansing Balm, Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser, Laneige Cream Skin Toner, Hyper Skin Vitamin C Serum, The Oridinary Azelaic Acid, Innis Free Dewy Glow Moisturizer & Biossance Mineral Sunscreen (in that order).
BODY
NLD: Ever since I shared photos showing my bare belly [on Instagram] I’ve received non-stop messages asking about the products I’ve been using to prevent stretch marks. Whether or not you get stretch marks has a lot to do with the elasticity of your skin, how quickly you gain weight, and also genetics. My mother had no stretch marks after having two kids so my chances of getting them are lessened.
Tummy: I alternate between Raw Shea Butter and Bio Oil Skincare Oil. I use the Bio Oil in the days because it absorbs so well into my skin and doesn’t transfer onto my clothes, and the shea butter before bed. I spend maybe a minute or so gently massaging the product onto my stomach which also helps with some of the discomfort and itchiness from my stretching skin.
Legs & Arms: I use Nécessaire The Body Lotion after my daily shower. It’s fragrance-free and literally leaves my skin feeling smooth & hydrated all day (low-key mad I left my full-sized version in Jamaica!) And before bed I use Lush Cosmetics ‘SLEEPY’ Body Lotion. It doesn’t help put me to sleep but I really find the smell relaxing.
