Cornwall College win back-to-back matches in U-15 basketball tourney
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Cornwall College won back-to-back games to start the ISSA/Western Conference Under-15 boys’ basketball competition after holding off Herbert Morrison Technical 35-31 at Cornwall College on Friday.
Cornwall College had beaten York Castle High in their first game, had a big second quarter to create some space, and went on for a morale-boosting victory.
Cornwall were led by Matai Williams who scored a game-high 24 points and had five steals, while Janathan Daye and Dejeaun Williams had three points each as Demar Lattibauiere grabbed 12 rebounds.
Kamau Dennis scored 13 points for Herbert Morrison and had eight rebounds and Joshua Ferguson, who was part of the Under-19 winning team, scored 11 points and had six steals.
Cornwall led by a point for a 7-6 scoreline at the end of the first quarter but extended the lead to five points for 20-15 on the scoresheet, maintaining that margin after the third quarter with 27-22.
