Skincare #Shelfie w/ Rachel Kerr
As we continue a month-long celebration of mums, Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) explores multiple-award-winning, UK-based singer/songwriter and recent Jamaica Observer Modern Motherhood Conversations webinar participant Rachel Kerr’s vanity for beauty and skincare secrets.
Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD): What is your beauty routine?
Rachel Kerr (RK): I actually had a few that came into play before motherhood that I hold onto to this day. I’m big on exfoliating. Spa days are also important, so once a month I’ll book a full-body wax. I also use a daily facial brush and moisturising or deep-cleansing facial mask once a week.
Face & Body
When it comes to cosmetic products, I’m not fussy with my body. Anything that is highly moisturising and oil-based to leave a little glow works for me. However, with my face I always use the same products. I use CeraVe Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Facial Cleanser with a soft exfoliating facial brush just to ensure all the make-up from shows and performances are removed from deep inside my pores. Generally, I have oily skin and big pores, so an exfoliating brush and cleanser that doesn’t strip the oil from my skin but in fact complements my oil production works so well for me.
Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner is great to remove last traces of grime and dirt whilst calming the skin and restoring its natural PH-balance. I use the Elemis Rehydrating Ginseng Toner when my skin might be in need of a much-needed moisture boost.
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum is magic in a bottle. As I’m getting older, I love serums before moisturising and this is my absolute go-to. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 or a vitamin E-rich facial cream works really well for me as well.
Diet and exercise
I must admit I don’t always drink as much water as I should but love salads fruits and veg and have them with every meal.
I love to run three times a week. I always find sweating out toxins followed by a nice hot shower does wonders for my skin.
