Vows – Click To Love
Our love was destined to be, because against all odds we pulled through and now we are one. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder. — Yaneek McNeil
A double-click online and a Christmas Day proposal led to a fairy-tale wedding for Yaneek McNeil and Christopher Smal on August 7, 2021, at the Knutsford Court Hotel.
Yaneek met her Prince Charming Christopher in August 2020 via the Internet. It was love at first sight as four months later, Christopher, who resided in Canada, travelled to Jamaica to meet his princess and wasted no time in asking for her hand in marriage.
“Christopher would always tell me that he’s going to marry me, but I didn’t believe it until he popped the question while we were in Portland, Jamaica, on Christmas Day 2020,” Yaneek shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). “I said, ‘Yes!’ After accepting the proposal I ran out of the room to share the good news with my family.
“Coming from two different cultures made our relationship even more interesting and fun because we delight in teaching each other about our respective cultures.”
Here comes the bride…
The light shower of rain enhanced the romantic blush pink and gold setting created by Sanya McHugh and her team from Fanciful Decor/@fancifuldecorjm.
Calum Scott’s Biblical signalled the bride’s arrival on the arm of her dad Vincent McNeil. Princess Yaneek, complete with pink tiara and a Savoy off-the-shoulder bridal gold and white lace-back princess-cut gown from Dream Wedding Services, and clutching a posy of ivory and blush roses interspersed with baby’s breath, approached her bridegroom. His Hugo Boss grey fitted tuxedo and blush pink tie perfectly complemented his bride’s ensemble.
Reverend Shaun O’Connor was the officiant, with the actual vows being exchanged inside the hotel’s ballroom as the light downpour turned into torrential rains.
“Our most memorable highlight was the first dance as husband and wife to Disclosure’s Latch, featuring Sam Smith, which touches our hearts since we can relate to the words: ‘Now I’ve got you in my space I’m not letting go of you’,” shared the couple. “We felt as if we didn’t want to let go.”
Other highlights included the shoe game, the singing of Meghan Trainor’s Like I’m Gonna Lose You, featuring John Legend, by the bride’s cousin Tricia Richards; the cutting of the vanilla wedding cake by Christal McHugh from Dream Puffs; and the tasty Knutsford Court hotel fare.
The newly-weds spent their wedding night at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel before heading to Sandcastles, Ocho Rios for their honeymoon.
