Autopsies on two men found in vehicle in Guyana car park ‘inconclusive’
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) – The autopsies conducted on the bodies of two men found in a vehicle in a hotel car park last weekend, were found to be “inconclusive” on Monday. Authorities have since signalled that further tests overseas would be needed to determine the cause of death of the two friends.
Autopsies were conducted on the bodies of 25-year-old Paishnarine ‘Ritchie’ Hansraj and 34-year-old Justin Teixeira, a flight attendant with American Airlines, by government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh, two days after they were discovered dead inside Teixeira’s car at the Marriott Hotel in the capital, Georgetown.
Teixeira’s body was found in the driver’s seat while that of Hansran was found on the floor of the passenger side.
In a statement, the police said that stomach contents have been removed from both bodies and will be sent overseas for testing and that the bodies have since been handed over to the relatives for burial.
As a result of the inconclusive findings, family members have been asked to bury and not cremate the bodies, in case there might be the need for further examination of the bodies as the investigations continue.
The police had earlier said that the Facebook accounts of both men had been examined by investigators, since their last posts which were made appropriately eight to 15 hours prior to the discovery of the bodies.
Hansraj’s last post on Facebook stated: “I hope the world find peace today I love you all,” while Teixeira wrote on his page “Life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you only spend it once”.
Meanwhile, the police said that the “white hard substance” found in the back seat of the car, which was initially suspected to be narcotics, may now be sodium cyanide, a poisonous compound.
They said samples will also be sent overseas to be tested after the substance tested negative for narcotics.
