Hanover man slapped with assault, illegal possession of firearm charges
HANOVER, Jamaica – Thirty-one-year-old Jemar Cunningham of Seaview Drive, Lucea in Hanover was arrested and charged following an incident at his home on April 9.
Cunningham was charged with assault at common-law and illegal
possession of firearm.
Reports from the Lucea police are that about 10:00pm, lawmen
responded to a report of assault. On reaching the area, they saw Cunningham who they said matched the description that was given to them.
The two officers exited their vehicle and, while approaching Cunningham, he allegedly pointed a firearm at them. Fearing for their lives, the officers both fired in his direction. Cunningham ran off and a search of the area was conducted where he was later found with gunshot wounds to the right foot and right side. He was taken to hospital in Lucea where he received treatment.
On Friday, April 15 Cunningham was charged.
His court date is being finalised.
