Jamaica reports 15 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 and two fatalities on Tuesday, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
This pushed the total number of cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic to 129,108 and the death toll to 2,919.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 12 females and three males – with ages ranging from four years to 76 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (six), Trelawny (three), St James (two), Hanover (one), Manchester (one), St Catherine (one), and Westmoreland (one).
Meanwhile, the latest deaths are a 67-year-old woman from St James whose death was recorded in January 2022 and a 71-year-old man from Clarendon whose death was recorded in April 2022.
The country also recorded 82 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 82,176.
The positivity rate for the latest round of testing was 2.3 per cent.
There are 11 people hospitalised, one of them critically ill.
There are 266 confirmed active cases on the island.
