Dance With My Father
Ah, the father-daughter dance! That special moment during the wedding celebration when the spotlight returns to the bride and her father who has walked her up the aisle, “given her away” and is all set to perform his final duty. Whoever said that dads aren’t under pressure have clearly never seen the many times the white handkerchief is removed ostensibly to mop the brow.
The father-daughter dance is the moment when even the biggest sceptic would feign indifference. The choice of the song is what makes it that much more memorable. The best ones are sweet, meaningful, and a joy to watch. Think: Butterfly Kisses, Father’s Eyes, I Loved Her First, or My Girl, to name a few.
As we celebrate fathers today — and celebrate them we absolutely must — we sought inspiration from that father-daughter moment from our sister publication Vows. It is our hope that you enjoy these memories that will forever, hit all the right notes.
