Marcy Chin sees success with songs on European iTunes chart
Singer Marcy Chin says she’s ecstatic after learning that two of her songs had landed on the iTunes reggae chart outside of Jamaica.
Chin’s When Again (released in 2014) and Lipstick, produced by Downsound Records (DSR), hit number three on the iTunes reggae chart in Italy and Israel last Wednesday.
According to Chin, she brings her authentic self along with great energy to each song and it is something that flows upon hearing the beat.
“The vibes from the beat is my inspiration. Kunley (McCarthy) made the beat, wrote the first verse and the hook and gave it to me. He said I was to finish the song, but it was a no brainer. I did it in one go,” the singer shared.
She also used the occasion to share that she was getting ready to release the visuals for Lipstick.
The video for Lipstick was directed by Domz Media and was shot at a location in her community of Kencot, Kingston 5, said Chin, adding that dancehall artiste Ce’Cile served as creative director for the project.
“The video captures me in my community, performing in different locations. Very grimy street feel. It was important to shoot in Kencot because my community is my backbone and I wanted the world to see that,” added Chin.
Chin (real name Lonique Chin) is the latest female artiste to receive the backing of the Josef Bogdanovich-led team at Downsound Records.
Chin released her six-song EP Episode 1 last year.
