Koffee wins NAACP Award for ‘Lockdown’
Koffee must be getting used to winning after racking up yet another accolade, this time at the NAACP Image Awards.
In the 2021 iteration of the show that honours black excellence, Koffee came out on top in the category of Outstanding International Song for her 2020 hit Lockdown.
The win was announced on Thursday even though the official show doesn’t take place until Saturday when it airs on BET. Several other announcements have been made in the show’s lead-up.
The W artiste also had another nomination in the category with her song ‘Pressure’ which features fellow dancehall act Buju Banton. Banton was also nominated for Blessed. The category also included Davido’s Tanana and Temptation by Tiwa Savage.
Lockdown was the most streamed track out of Jamaica for 2020. It also became the fastest reggae track to reach a million views on the streaming platform, YouTube, in just under 48 hours.
