A reward of $200,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and charge of those responsible for the shooting death of film production professional Courtney “Sudz” Sutherland.

He was shot dead in his car at the intersection of Headley Avenue and Washington Boulevard in the Corporate Area on the morning of March 16 in what is being reported as an act of road rage.

According to reports, Sutherland was involved in a traffic smash when he was killed.

Police investigations have been unable to lead to any arrests, which has led to the reward being offered under the Crime Stop initiative spearheaded by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ).

Film-maker Storm Saulter took to Instagram to share word of the latest initiative to bring the perpetrator(s) in this act. He noted that he is saddened by the murder of his colleague.

“Hard to find the words to express how shocked and saddened the entire Jamaican film and television industry is over the senseless murder of our brother Courtney Sutherland… Love and strength to his wife and children, his brother Squidly, to the Cinecom family, and to his many friends and colleagues who miss him dearly,” Saulter shared.

At the time of his murder, the Jamaica Film and Television Association (JAFTA) shared its sadness at the passing of the 49-year-old Sutherland.

“Our film and TV community yesterday lost a cherished colleague. His work included videography, photography, grip, and more,” the association said.

“Always willing to lend a helping hand on set, Courtney is remembered as being a welcomed calming influence and a gentle soul,” JAFTA continued.
