Police arrest teen who allegedly dropped gun and ran
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — A teenager who allegedly dropped a gun and ran when he saw police officers during an operation in Bull Bay, St Thomas on Monday, March 15, has been arrested and charged.
Nineteen-year-old Leroy Ferguson, a labourer of Lane Gate, 11 Miles Bull Bay has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
The police said about 4:30 am, a team of officers was on special operations in the area when Ferguson was seen acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion. The police said Ferguson then dropped an object he had in his possession and ran when officers approached.
He was later apprehended and the object was retrieved and found to be a Tanfoglio 9mm pistol with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition, the police said.
He was arrested and subsequently charged on Friday, March 19.
