US Embassy in Kingston fetes US Marines
It was an evening of elegance as the US Marines in Jamaica celebrated their 244th anniversary at the US Embassy Marine Ball at the AC Marriott Hotel in St Andrew Friday evening.
The event saw specially invited guests mingling in a relaxing atmosphere, as the marines took part in the rituals that involved the cutting of cake and military music. The Jamaica Defence Force Pop Band provided music.
A significant part of the event was the passing of the cake, in which the oldest marines there, eat a slice of the cake and then handed a slice to the youngest marine present.
