Ace Gawd knocks up new track
Ace Gawd hopes his latest single will promote widespread unity.
“ Knocka is to highlight friendship. To me, dancehall need a song like that right now; so, in the parties, people can enjoy themselves next to friends. No violence, no fuss, just friends enjoying the party,” he told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
Produced by SkyBad Musiq, the track was officially released on October 25.
The 23-year-old deejay, whose given name is Sadeki McLarthy, made his recording debut in 2018 with MarkX & Axio. This year, he has released songs like Keep On Going, Battlefield, Money A Di Aim and All I Want.
Ace Gawd added that Knocka also pays homage to his colleagues for supporting his career.
“ Knocka is the name I give persons in my team, so I decided to make a song based on that. On the music journey, I saw so many so-called friends switch up so I did this song to highlight the realest,” he said.
Dancehall artistes are often criticised for producing content that endorses promiscuity and violence.
However, Ace Gawd says he does not subscribe to that stereotype; explaining that his music is suitable for general listenership.
“I do music for the public; I try to have a wide fan base so my music can relate to any group. For me, music is about feeling,” he stated.
