Carib Cement holds business-building workshop
Carib Cement, the country’s sole cement manufacturer and member of the larger Cemex Group, recently facilitated a workshop and had a soft launch of its ‘distributors’ academy. This, as the company seeks to continue its stakeholder education drive.
During the week-long activities for customer service week, held at the Spanish Court Hotel, the company showed its appreciation by launching the academy, wherein a distributors’ workshop was conducted.
Recognising that a company, particularly one involved in both manufacturing and distribution, is only as successful as its network, the company spearheaded the workshop and made presentations that drew representatives from several companies across the Carib Cement distributor network.
A news release informed that the company engaged the expertise of certified business coach and presenter Angela Fletcher to give solid words of business advice to its distributors. Fletcher, in leading the discourse, focused on innovation and the importance of taking ownership of the business process and results.
“What we want to encourage people here to do is to move beyond being ‘inspired’ for a day or two to actually implementing continuous improvement in the various components of selling, so that by participating fully, they can see results improve sustainably and they can help their companies differentiate themselves in what is a very competitive environment,” she said.
Also addressing the workshop was Yago Castro, general manager of Carib Cement, who said that he was delighted to have met with the distributors in a more relaxed environment.
“This exercise is part of our commitment to adding value to our distributor network and to establish a win-win situation, where the companies that work with us and contribute to our own success can significantly improve within their own business performance, by keeping the overall focus of better service to customers, which is at the heart of our business,” he added.
The discussions and messages were well-received by the participants who were also delighted by the gesture from their Carib Cement supplier.
“We’re always looking for new information, and for ways to get better and do better for our customers,” said Marsha Welcome-Brown of MSM Limited. She said she was glad to have received alternative strategies which will help in generating growth for the business.
Gregory Chedda of ARC Systems also said that he was pleased by the use of case studies and real-life examples from businesses that have successfully navigated the challenges of delivering increased sales and also managing to provide better engagement of team and customers.
