Sean Paul receives his Order of Distinction
Jamaican recording artiste Sean Paul was honoured with the Order of Distinction, Commander Class (CD), during a function at King’s House in St Andrew Monday (Oct 21).
The recognition was for his contribution to the global popularity and promotion of reggae music. The artiste, whose real name is Sean Henriques, received his medal from Governor-general Sir Patrick Allen to the approval of the audience.

The entertainer broke on to the Jamaican music scene in 1994, but his career took off internationally in the 2000s. In 2004, he won his first Grammy award for his second debut studio album, Dutty Rock, which sold more than six million copies. Dutty Rock features international hits such as Gimmie The Light and Get Busy.
Sean Paul has collaborated with several international acts, including Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Dupa Lipa, Eve and Estelle. He even tapped into the Latin market when he did the remix for one of the biggest Latin hits, Bailando, with Enrique Iglesias, as well as Contra La Pared with Latin superstar J Balvin. Sean Paul was nominated in August in the ‘Favorite Crossover Artiste’ category in the 2019 Latin American Music Awards. The award show will take place this week.
