Anchovy into second round of D’Cup
ANCHOVY, St James — After an 18-year absence, Anchovy High made a long awaited return to the second round of the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition after beating Irwin High 4-0 in their return round Zone A game on Saturday.
The win took Anchovy High to 20 points, ensuring them of at least second place, with a game to go against Cornwall College on Saturday.
The 20 points was the most scored by Anchovy High in daCosta Cup since 2011 when they amassed 21 while in Zone B. The most they have ever scored was 28 points also in Zone B in 2005.
Former champions Frome Technical and Rusea’s High from Zone B, as well as Mannings School from Zone D, have also secured their places in the second round set to be played next week, October 16th and 19th.
