More flexing for actors
More training is coming for local actors.
Following the success of the inaugural Actors’ Flex held on August 31 where attendees received training in acting for screen, tips to increase knowledge, improve professionalism and get cast, and a review of and feedback on portfolios, resumes and head shots, facilitator and executive director of Sankofa Arts and Facilitation Fabian Thomas is coming with part two, as promised.
According to Thomas the first class exceeded expectations, and again he is drawing on local experts to share their knowledge. It will be held on Saturday, October 19 at the National Volunteer Centre, 2D Camp Road, starting at 10:00 am.
“Actors’ Flex 2 will focus on voice acting. Noelle Kerr and Deanne Allgrove will draw on their collective experience in voice acting, coaching and directing voice talent, casting, acting and advertising as co-facilitators of the workshop, which will include one-on-one coaching sessions for five participants. The response to Actors’ Flex 2: Voice Acting 101 has been robust, so I recommend that those interested register and pay promptly to secure their spaces,” said Thomas.
Thomas is committed to offering Actors’ Flex as an ongoing series of capacity-building activities targeting performers and others in the creative industries. The next instalment will be Acting: nat a bag a mout, which will focus on familiarising participants with stage and set areas and etiquette, as well as tips and pointers on character development, is scheduled for November.
