Doha 2019: Shanice Love 9th in discus qualifiers
DOHA, Qatar — Jamaica’s Shanice Love will have to wait to find out if she qualifies for the final of the Women’s Discus Throw at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships inside Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
Love, who was unable to make the 63-metre automatic qualifying mark, made her best throw of 59.50m on her third attempt, landing her in ninth position in Group A.
Her first attempt was a no throw while her second attempt was 56.65 metres.
Cuba’s Yaimé Pérez (67.78m), Mélina Robert-Michon of France (64.02m), Kristin Pudenz of Germany (63.35), and China’s Yang Chen (63.10) are the only automatic qualifiers from that group.
Jamaica’s Shadae Lawrence is set to compete in Group B.
Only the 12 best performers will advance.
