Doha 2019: Demish Gaye to join Bloomfied in 400m semis, McDonald out
DOHA, Qatar — Jamaica’s Demish Gaye will join teamate Akeem Bloomfield in the semi-finals of the Men’s 400 metres at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The third Jamaican in the event, Rusheen Mcdonald, finished fifth in his heat and will not move on to the next round.
Clocking 45.02 seconds, Gaye finished second in heat four behind the USA’s Michael Norman (45.00s).
Third place was taken by Leungo Scotch of Botswana in a personal best of 45.10s.
Meanwhile, McDonald who ran in heat five, completed the race in 46.21s, which was not good enough for him to advance as one of the fastest losers.
That heat was won by Steven Gardiner (45.68s) of The Bahamas, while Canada’s Philip Osei (45.87s) was second and third was Colombia’s Anthony Zambrano (45.93s).
