#Doha 2019: Calvert-Powell eliminated from 200 metres
Schillonie Calvert-Powell failed to advance beyond the preliminary round of the women’s 200 metres at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar on Monday, as she finished Heat Six seventh.
Calvert ran a strong bend and came off the turn among the
leaders, but when challenged with about 60 metres left in the race, she
struggled to respond and faded out of contention for a spot in the semi-finals.
Anglerne Annelus of the United States of America won the event in 22.56 seconds with Carolle Zahi of France second in 22.99 and Beth
Dobbin of Great Britain third in 23.14.
Calvert-Powell ran 23.52 seconds as Jamaica will go into the
semi-finals with two athletes. Elaine Thompson and Sashalee Forbes had earlier
qualified for the semi-finals.
