Silver for Jamaica in historic mixed 4×400 relay
Jamaica mined a silver medal in the first ever mixed 4×400 relay final in the World Championships now underway in Doha, Qatar.
The team made up of Javon Francis, Tiffany James, Roneisha McGregor and Nathon Allen finished behind winners, the United States who had Alison Felix running for them.
In his post-race inteview, Francis, who did the final leg said, ” It is a wonderful feeling. I cannot express how I feel right now. The championships have been very exciting for me so far. We Jamaicans just try to get all the medal that we can get. It is a pleasure to go in the final with my teammate. It has been a long time that I wanted to do a mixed relay, it is fun.”
The team produced a national record in their effort of
3.11.78 while the Americans won in a world record time of 3.09.34. Bahrain
finished third.
