#Doha2019: Jonielle Smith advances to the semis of the women’s 100 metres
Jonielle Smith ensured that the trio of Jamaican athletes in the women’s 100 metres at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, is through to the semi-finals, as she placed third in Heat Four to earn one of the three automatic qualifying spots from the group.
Smith
clocked 11.20 seconds to finish behind Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain, who
did 11.96 seconds, and English Gardner of the United States, who, like Smith,
did 11.20.
Smith joined Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson as the other Jamaicans to advance to the semi-finals. Fraser-Pryce won Heat One while Thompson capturing Heat Three.
The
semi-finals will be run on Sunday.
