Exciting 11-card fight set for Rough Fight League’s fourth edition
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans will be in for a treat, as Rough Fight League (RFL) hosts their fourth event, a high-energy MMA combustible Pro-Am 11-fight card at Douglas Orane Auditorium on the compounds of Wolmer’s Boys’ School today.
The card will see Jamaica’s Kyle “The Mighty” Chin of the Kingston-based Iron Lotus Academy facing off against Markhaile “Show time” Wedderburn in the main event.
Chin, the young Asian-Jamaican, currently has a record of 2-0-0 and is the RFL 185lb pro middleweight champion, while Markhaile is a well-rounded Jamaican-Canadian veteran fighting out of Rough House Muay Thai & MMA Canada with a record of 11-16-0.
On the main card, Shiaeine “De Great” Blake, the fast-rising RFL 155lb amateur lightweight champion, of Ruthless Sports Academy in Kingston, will do battle against Noah Crosswell, another well-rounded Jamaican-Canadian star fighter out of Steel Town Boxing Academy.
Blake currently holds a record of 2-0-0, while Crosswell with a record of 4-6-0, earned his spot after defeating Rajene Treasure via a unanimous decision in a hard-fought battle at RFL3 in July.
Meanwhile, Nicholai Reid, also of Ruthless Sports Academy, with a record of 2-0-0, will be challenged by Imran Hall of Wushinkido Lion Pride — whose record stands at 0-1-0 — in a 155lb amateur lightweight bout.
Reid earned the number one title-contender spot after defeating Sean “Shinobi” McNabb, a Muay Thai veteran fighting out of One Muay Thai Academy led by Canadian Simon “The One” Marcus, a two-time Glory and eight-time Muay Thai and kick-boxing middleweight world champion.
However, Reid decided to face Hall over Blake, as both athletes are from the same fight camp.
In the Women’s MMA division, Tifanie Gordon of Ruthless Sports Academy will face Michela Moreno of Trinidad and Tobago’s Team Extreme in a 155lb amateur lightweight bout. This fight could go either way, as both athletes will be making their first MMA appearance in the cage.
Other fights on the card include Rasean Martin (Ruthless Sports Academy) vs Wayne Whyte (Jamaica Top Team); Osanie Simpson (Grupo Jaguar) vs Demar Haslam (Wushinkido Lion Pride); Roxy Reid (Ruthless Sports Academy) vs Samuel Campbell (Shi Tai Kickboxing & MMA); Anthony McLeish (Lone Wolf MMA) vs Tareeq Blackwood (Ellis School of Martial Arts); Nakia Anderson (Ruthless Sports Academy) vs Ricardo Beckford (Jamaica Top Team), and Benjamin Stanley (Hybrid Athletics) vs Kahiem Knight (Ellis School of Martial Arts).
The event will be monitored and sanctioned by Combat Sports Jamaica.
