Waterhouse tackle Motagua of Honduras in CONCACAF League at National Stadium
Waterhouse
Football Club will be looking to make further inroads into the Scotiabank
CONCACAF League on Wednesday at the National Stadium when they tackle FC
Motagua of Honduras at 9 p.m. in a quarterfinals fixture.
Waterhouse
advanced to this stage of the tournament after stopping defending champions CS
Herediano of Costa Rica on penalties, in their home-and-away battle, while
Motagua defeated Managua of Nicaragua 3-2 on aggregate.
The match is
expected to pit the slick passing of the Central Americans Motagua against the
strength and speed of Waterhouse, who are back-to-back losers of the island’s
top-tier football competition, the Red Stripe Premier League. Waterhouse lost
to Portmore in the final last year and to Arnett Gardens the year before.
With a victory,
Waterhouse will be on their way to becoming the first Jamaican club to advance
to the semifinals of the competition. To do so, they would have to complete the
aggregate win next week Wednesday in Honduras.
Waterhouse
will be looking to newly acquired marksman, Colorado Murray along with captain
Keithy Simpson, Tramaine Stewart and Andre Moulton to spur them to victory.
Murray joined Waterhouse this season, after donning the colours of Tivoli
Gardens for a few seasons.
