Some commuters left stranded due to JUTC slow rollout
Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) buses started returning to their routes Wednesday morning (Sept 25) but not as early as planned.
Early commuters were left stranded as buses didn’t start rolling out in some
area until minutes after 7 o’clock.
Up to 8 o’clock, no # 75 buses or the # 31 were seen in the Duhaney
Park area of St Andrew.
The JUTC had said that buses would start rolling out at 6 o’clock.
The drivers were reportedly still concerned for their safety.
“I’ve been waiting here for over an hour and no 75. We would normally see more than one bus from morning,” commuter Kim told BUZZ. She eventually took a Coaster bus.
JUTC drivers withdrew their services on Tuesday after a colleague was shot dead in the New Kingston area Monday night.
His killing followed an incident Monday night in which a JUTC driver fatally
stabbed a taxi driver who plied the Duhaney Park to Half-Way Tree route.
