JUTC drivers strike
The Government operated Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus drivers went on strike Tuesday morning, which has caused a disruption in the commute of passengers in the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region (KMTR).
According to early information reaching BUZZ, the drivers’ protest action is a result of the shooting of their colleague in the volatile Rockfort community Monday night.
Details of that incident are unclear, but it is understood
that it is the second matter involving a driver of a public passenger vehicle
on Monday.
Earlier, a taxi driver was chased and stabbed to death close
to the Washington Boulevard and Patrick Drive intersection in St Andrew.
The driver has been identified as ‘Keno’ or
‘Juvenile/Buminile’, a 30-year-old resident of Kingston. It is not clear who
carried out the attack on the taxi driver or if both incidents are related.
More details later.
