Vows – We Found Love
When Ruth-Lyn Bryan, administrative manager, Mona Institute of Medical Sciences, and Randolph McClean, software developer at Particular Presence Technologies, met at The University of the West Indies, Mona, their single focus was to do well and graduate. However, Cupid’s quivering arrow had other plans as, six years later, on January 5, 2019, the two were joined in holy matrimony inside the Gold Room, Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre.
The ceremony
To the strains of Ribbon In The Sky by Stevie Wonder the bridesmaids made their way up the aisle dressed in black off-the-shoulder Bardot lace dresses. They were escorted by dapper groomsmen clad in black and white.
At the altar stood the bridegroom Randolph, smart in a black jacket with gold details and ivory trousers designed by Victor Wilson.
Ingrid Michaelson’s Can’t Help Falling In Love signalled the bride’s arrival.
Ruth-Lyn was escorted up the aisle by her father Carl Bryan. She looked gorgeous in a white Morilee lace, tulle and organza gown from Beautiful Brides & Mr Tux.
The proceedings were officiated by Bishop Neville Owens.
The reception
The reception followed at the same venue, which was decorated in shades of ivory, black and gold by the groom’s mother Shereen McClean and her team from Exquisite Events. Master of ceremonies Ryan Dixon welcomed guests ahead of the arrival of the bridal party to the pulsating sounds of September by Earth, Wind & Fire, while the newly-weds entered to Don Omar’s Danza Kuduro featuring Lucenzo.
The couple’s first dance as husband and wife was to Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together. Guests then enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal catered by Ricardo Esson from Paradise Catering, and witnessed the cutting of the five-tiered black forest and fruitcake by Jermaine Smith from J Smith Cakes and Décor. The newly-wed game elicited much laughter as Ruth-Lyn and Randolph vied for top scores. The father and daughter dance to the Temptations’ classic My Girl was well-received and set the tone for guests to party the night away to the soundscape of DJ Big J.
The newly-weds will not have a honeymoon, but intend to travel the world throughout their lives.
