Australia lead Reggae Girlz 2-0 at half time
GRENOBLE, France — The writing is all but on the wall for Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz in their Fifa Women’s World Cup debut campaign as they trail Australia 0-2 at half time in their final Group C game here at Stade des Alpes.
Australian captain Sam Kerr netted both goals from free headers in the 11th and 42nd minutes, as the Matildas, who lead the World Cup in services from the channels, continue to exploit that ploy to their advantage.
The Jamaicans needing to win by five or more clear goals to extend their stay here, only have another 45 minutes to come away with at least one goal from their campaign. They are rooted at the foot of the standings without a point.
A win for Australia would see them progressing as group runners-up on six points behind Italy (six points), who were goalless at half time in their fixture against Brazil (three points) at Stade du Hainaut.
