A COMMON AGENDA – DAVID NOEL

On Fatherhood:
Fatherhood means realising that there are people in the world more important than you are. People in the world who are your priorities – people who you have to nurture, support, and help to develop and realise their true potential. It’s a huge responsibility because I know that the decisions I make will have an impact on them as well, and I need to make sure whatever I’m doing is gonna help them to be safe, secure and happy.
Father to: Zachary and Eden Noel
Ages: 12 and 10 years old, respectively What’s the story behind your child’s name? Eden’s name was initially chosen by my wife Francene. It means paradise or delight, and she thought having a daughter would be a delight. But when we actually saw her we just knew Eden was the right name for her — everything about her exuded beauty, intelligence and peace.
What were your immediate thoughts at the birth of your child?
When I first saw Eden, a few seconds after she was born, I immediately realised that I loved this precious little girl unconditionally and that I was blessed to have her in my life. I knew that my priorities had just changed, and that I would do everything in my power to care for, nurture and support her.
