Girlz trail Brazil 0-1 at half time
GRENOBLE, France — Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz are trailing 0-1 in their historic Fifa Women’s World Cup Group C opening game against Brazil here at Stade des Alpes.
The Jamaicans who started slowly conceded in the 15th minute when Cristiane expertly headed past Sydney Schneider.
After the goal the Reggae Girlz settled into their game and gave the Brazilian defence a few scares while Schneider continued to command her box well at the other end, including an impressive save to deny Andressa from the penalty spot.
Earlier, Italy toppled group favourites Australia 2-1 in a come-from-behind victory to take pole position.
