Is Rihanna ever going to release new music?
Though rumours of the pop icon’s Dancehall album are beginning to surface, it seems like we’ll hear from Rihanna later rather than sooner.
Rihanna told The New York Times today that she’s been living in London for about a year… And no one knew about it! Just the fact that Rihanna is probably hidden in plain sight strutting somewhere on British soil right now, and not even TMZ was privy to a single whisper of it, makes us wonder just how much she has severed her ties with the pop star lifestyle. The past year has made it clear that Rihanna is seriously remolding herself into a business mogul, perhaps shedding pop star fame for good.
Since the moment Fenty Beauty launched in 2017, I think we all knew Rihanna would never be the same. The cosmetic brand has sold out repeatedly and grossed millions in its first few weeks. In the beauty industry, that’s a big deal. Not to mention, she avoided major scandals, unlike Kylie Cosmetics, by providing wide shade ranges and quality products. Rihanna won that round!
More recently, she launched Savage X Fenty, a new ultra-inclusive lingerie line, making waves everywhere. After launching her men’s make-up line, the Bajan-born superstar has since partnered with LVMH to create a luxury fashion brand, making her the first black woman to do so.
There’s even suspicion that she wants to start a furniture collection, which, let’s be real, we’d all want to buy just because it’s Riri (Fenty Home, anyone?). To top it off, she’s reprised her role as an actress once again by starring in Amazon Prime’s Guava Island with Childish Gambino.
Rihanna seems to be doing just fine without music, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Her Instagram clapbacks are proof enough!
At this point, attending the Met Gala and working on a ninth studio album sounds like cheap work for the trailblazing entrepreneur Rihanna has become. She’s busy making Fenty into an Empire and it makes sense, given her release from her 6 album contract with Def Jam records.
But, we can’t help but want to hear something new from her again. A Buju collaboration maybe? Shenseea? The possibilities are endless, but nevertheless, in the distant future. Rihanna seems intent on making us wait, and while we’re not happy with it, we’ll do it anyway. For her.
Alexa, replay Anti by Rihanna… again.
